Non-domestic RHI – BEIS response to consultation

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has published its response to the consultation Non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI): ensuring a sustainable scheme.

Based on responses and work with Ofgem, the body which administers the RHI, the outcomes are:

  • The Non-domestic RHI will close on 31 March 2021 as the Government transitions to future support schemes that most strategically target tax-payers money
  • Heat pumps: it has been confirmed that the modification of capacity for shared ground loop (SGL) systems will be allowed, so participants can receive Non-domestic RHI payments without requiring the total capacity to commission all at once

Further outcomes have also been confirmed relating to biogas, biomethane and biomass. The response can be viewed in full online.
