Non-domestic RHI – scheme deadline and extension applications

A further update has been announced on the Non-domestic RHI.

• Scheme closure

Ofgem has confirmed the scheme will close to new applications, as expected, at midnight on 31^st March 2021.

With the scheme coming to a close, Ofgem is reminding applicants to ensure their applications are sent in as soon as possible after commissioning and that all forms are properly completed.

If your Non-domestic RHI application has already been accepted, you will not be affected by this change. Ofgem will continue paying participants after 31^st March 2021 and for up to 20 years from the date the installation was accredited.

• Extension applications

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is proposing to introduce a short window for non-tariff guarantee extension applications. Extension applications will allow non-tariff guarantee eligible projects that have been unable to commission due to the impact of COVID-19 to gain entry to the scheme where certain requirements are met.

To apply, customers will need to show evidence of investing in the project prior to 17^th August 2020. This doesn’t have to be a financial investment – it can be in the form of resources such as a planning application, full designs, contracts etc.

Extension applications will open on 1^st March 2021 and close on 31^st March 2021. There is no flexibility to this deadline – applications must be received during this period so don’t delay! Talk to us if you need help – we are able to assist with RHI applications.
