Non-domestic RHI – scheme deadline and extension applications

A further update has been announced on the Non-domestic RHI.

  • Scheme closure

Ofgem has confirmed the scheme will close to new applications, as expected, at midnight on 31st March 2021.

With the scheme coming to a close, Ofgem is reminding applicants to ensure their applications are sent in as soon as possible after commissioning and that all forms are properly completed.

If your Non-domestic RHI application has already been accepted, you will not be affected by this change. Ofgem will continue paying participants after 31st March 2021 and for up to 20 years from the date the installation was accredited.

  • Extension applications

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is proposing to introduce a short window for non-tariff guarantee extension applications. Extension applications will allow non-tariff guarantee eligible projects that have been unable to commission due to the impact of COVID-19 to gain entry to the scheme where certain requirements are met.

To apply, customers will need to show evidence of investing in the project prior to 17th August 2020. This doesn’t have to be a financial investment – it can be in the form of resources such as a planning application, full designs, contracts etc.

Extension applications will open on 1st March 2021 and close on 31st March 2021. There is no flexibility to this deadline – applications must be received during this period so don’t delay! Talk to us if you need help – we are able to assist with RHI applications.
