The Decarbonisation Challenge

In 2024, Jaga’s founding family opened Kriekels House, a state-of-the-art facility designed to house their UK offices, warehouse, training and demonstration spaces, and showroom.

The building required a low carbon heating and cooling solution capable of supporting a modern, multi-use commercial environment, delivering heating and cooling simultaneously across different areas, and acting as a live demonstration of heat pump performance.

Finn Geotherm were engaged at the concept stage to design a solution that met both the operational requirements of the building and Jaga’s ambition to use the system as a showcase for clients.

Key Delivery Considerations

Given the building’s role as a flagship commercial facility, careful consideration was required to ensure:

– The system could deliver heating and cooling simultaneously across different areas of the building
– Groundworks, plant installation and wider construction activity were coordinated effectively
– The plant room met both the technical and presentation standards required for client demonstrations

Early stage involvement enabled these considerations to be addressed within the overall design and build programme.

Finn Geotherm’s Role

Finn Geotherm were involved from the outset, working closely with Jaga and the main contractor to:

– Develop the concept design for heating, cooling and domestic hot water
– Specify an integrated ground and air source heat pump solution
– Coordinate installation alongside the wider construction programme

Early engagement enabled a full understanding of the client’s requirements and ensured the final system aligned with both performance and presentation goals.

The Solution

Finn Geotherm designed and installed a hybrid heat pump system comprising:

– A 15kW ground source heat pump
– Four 16kW air source heat pumps

The system was designed to meet peak heating, cooling and domestic hot water demand while enabling simultaneous operation across different zones.

The installation included 800 metres of horizontal ground collector, delivery and integration of all heat pump equipment, and a detailed plant room installation designed as a visual showpiece viewable behind a glass screen.

Delivery & Outcomes

The completed system delivered:

– Integrated heating, cooling and domestic hot water provision
– Seamless coordination with the main contractor throughout the build process
– A high-quality, visually impressive plant room suitable for client demonstrations
– A flagship commercial facility showcasing heat pump performance in a real world environment

The Client’s Voice

Phil Mangnall, Managing Director at Jaga UK, says: “What impressed me about the team at Finn Geotherm was their passion, knowledge, and the quality of the installation at RAGT was as good as I’ve ever seen. Consequently, they were our go-to for Kriekels House. We engaged with them at an early stage, and never looked back. They were a dream to work with and delivered an air-source and ground-source heat pump installation that is second-to-none. It works in perfect harmony with our own heat pump radiators, to provide energy efficient heating and cooling to our state of the art, and sustainable facility, in Ledbury.
