How are you heating your home?
Leisure

Both ground and air source heat pumps are perfect for providing heating and cooling in leisure facilities of all types and sizes, whether you’re looking to heat a sports hall, changing rooms or even a large swimming pool.

Choosing heat pump technology to provide heating and hot water in your leisure facilities offers so many benefits including increased energy efficiency, lower emissions and even the option to use the system for cooling too.

  • Lower energy use

Heating large spaces such as indoor bowling greens and gyms can come at a significant cost, but by choosing a heat pump system you can cut your energy use and heat these areas much more effectively. Heat pumps use less energy to generate the same amount of heat as a conventional gas or oil boiler. You will also be shielded long term from the volatility in fossil fuel prices, which, when rising, can generate a considerable extra cost to a business.

You can even use a heat pump system to heat the water in your swimming pool.

  • Active and passive cooling

Heat pumps can be used for active and passive cooling, ensuring a comfortable environment for all manner of leisure pursuits all year round and, in the case of passive cooling via ground source, at a minimal operating cost.

  • Reduced carbon footprint

Heat pumps generate much lower CO2 emissions than conventional heating systems, helping to boost environmental policies such as ISO 14001, achieving significant progression towards Net Zero and promoting businesses as being socially responsible organisations.

  • Long term reliability

As a heat pump does not involve any form of combustion, it should be expected to last much longer than a traditional boiler and will require less maintenance. We would expect an air source heat pump to last between 15 to 20 years and a ground source system to last more than 30 years. By contrast, an average condensing boiler is likely to last only between seven and 10 years.

  • Hassle-free servicing and maintenance

As heat pumps do not involve any combustion, servicing and maintenance is usually straightforward. An added benefit of choosing Finn Geotherm to design and install your heat pump, is that we also have an in-house servicing and maintenance team who can attend to your system for years to come.

  • District heating

If you have a number of buildings to heat on one site, heat pumps are ideal for running a district heating (also known as communal heating) scheme. This uses one main heat pump system to supply heating and hot water to a series of premises. See our district heating page for more details.

We have been more than impressed with our ground source heat pump. Five years on, it continues to provide the perfect heating it has delivered for us from day one. The system is very low maintenance and has made a considerable impact on both our costs and energy use.
