How are you heating your home?
Social Housing

Fuel poverty in social housing is a significant issue, but by choosing a heat pump, you can cut energy bills for your residents, as well as making your heating system more reliable with easier servicing and maintenance.

We believe passionately that people should be able to enjoy living in warm homes without the worry of how much it will cost. Our heat pump systems provide proven solutions for social housing, helping residents to live comfortably while enabling housing associations to reduce costs and energy use and meet decarbonisation targets.

  • Lower heating bills

We can help you to make monthly heating bills more affordable for your residents. Heat pumps are highly energy efficient – typically costing 75% less to run than electric storage heaters.

  • High volume of hot water on demand

Heat pumps generate plenty of hot water as it is required, meeting the demands of your residents every day, all year round.

  • Reliable and low maintenance heating

As a heat pump doesn’t use any form of combustion, it should be expected to last much longer than a traditional boiler and will require less maintenance than other renewable alternatives. For example, a ground source heat pump should last more than 30 years – at least three times longer than a modern condensing boiler.

In addition, by creating a district heating scheme (using one heat pump system with a central plant room to heat any number of homes), servicing and maintenance is made significantly easier. You simply have to service one central system, rather than having to go into the homes of every resident individually.

  • Increased safety of low temperature radiators

Heat pumps are at their most efficient when providing steady state heat at a lower flow temperature. This makes them an ideal solution for low temperature radiators or underfloor heating in environments where safety is paramount, without compromising on the heat output.

  • Reduced carbon footprint

Heat pumps generate much lower CO2 emissions than conventional heating systems, helping organisations to meet the environmental credentials expected of them and accelerate their journey towards Net Zero.

  • Hassle-free servicing and maintenance

As heat pumps do not involve any combustion, servicing and maintenance is usually straightforward. An added benefit of choosing Finn Geotherm to design and install your heat pump, is that we also have an in-house servicing and maintenance team who can attend to your system for years to come.

  • District heating

District heating – also known as community or communal heating or heat networks – is a scheme which delivers highly efficient communal heating for a number of self-contained properties effectively using one main heat pump system. It is ideally suited to housing estates or blocks of flats and offers significant advantages to installing individual heating systems for each property. Read more about this on our district heating page.
